Dili, February 13th, 2025, President of the National Environmental Licensing Authority, Public Institute (ANLA, I.P.) Ir. Maximiano de Oliveira, S.T., M.Eng. Accompanied by the Director of the Environmental Inspection Unit (UFA), Mr. Norberto de Araรบjo, with the support of logistical managers and  Cabinet team, held a meeting with the Timor-Leste Institute of Geosciences, (IGTL, I.P.), through its President Eng. Job Brites dos Santos, also accompanied by the Vice-President together with the structures, held a ceremony of formalize the acceptance of the transfer of State vehicles with the brand โ€œToyota Hillux Revoโ€ to ANLA, I.P. for the vehicle to be used by ANLA, I.P. to carry out initial survey, inspection and monitoring activities in the field. This activity was carried out this afternoon, in Cidade 8, peso 2, Rua: Has-laran, Manleuana, Dili.
On this occasion, the President (IGTL, I.P.) said that โ€œThe reason why we accepted the request from ANLA, I.P. once we consider the ANLA, I.P. as an Environmental Authority whose services are essential. they need resources and conditions to carry out their work, such as environmental impact inspections and are also responsible for regularizing and controlling environmental impact activities on the ground, which is why IGTL, I.P. in the initiative to help ANLA, I.P. carry out activities outside the city.
On the other hand, the President (ANLA, I.P) said: I personally thank and express my gratitude to the President of the Institute of Geosciences of Timor-Leste, (IGTL, I.P.) and to the entire IGTL, I.P. Structure that supports ANLA, I.P. and can help our work especially in monitoring companies or companies that submit environmental documents ANLA, I.P. and the President of ANLA, I.P. also expressed their gratitude to the General Directorate of State Asset Management, which accepted the ANLA, I.P. your request to facilitate this transfer process.
The General Directorate of State Asset Management, Mr. Edmundo da Silva, thanked the President of IGTL, I.P. for supporting ANLA, I.P. through this program and gave the opinion to remember the acceptance of vehicles that have been implemented by (IGTL, I.P). to (ANLA, I.P). because the vehicle's license plate still private, and the vehicle must be taken to the General Management of State Property Management return to State Property.

Nha Trang, Vietnam โ€“ The 84th Steering Committee Meeting (SCM) of the Coordinating Committee for Geoscience Programs in East and Southeast Asia (CCOP) took place in Nha Trang, Vietnam, from 3 โ€“ 6 March 2025. The meeting was attended by representatives, including the IGTL and ANM, and provided an opportunity to discuss various aspects of CCOPโ€™s role in advancing geoscience both regionally and globally.
The meeting also marked the appointment of Mr. MA Yongzheng as the new Technical Director of CCOP. Mr. MA is the Deputy Director General of the Department of Science and Technology & International Cooperation at the China Geological Survey. The committee expressed its appreciation for the leadership and contributions of the former Technical Director, Dr. Young Joo Lee. Under his guidance, CCOP has made significant strides in expanding its influence and advancing geoscience efforts in the region.
As the meeting concluded, CCOP member countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaborative efforts in geoscience, both within the East and Southeast Asia regions and on a global scale.

The Instituto de Geociรชncias de Timor-Leste (IGTL) extends its heartfelt congratulations to Tivan Limited for successfully securing exploration licenses for copper and gold in Turiscai, Timor-Leste. 
This milestone marks a significant step forward in the development of the country's mineral resources sector and underscores the growing interest of international investors in Timor-Leste's untapped geological potential. 
The exploration and potential development of these resources could play a key role in boosting the national economy, generating employment opportunities, and fostering technological advancements in the countryโ€™s mining sector.

On March 19, 2025, the Instituto de Geociรชncias de Timor-Leste (IGTL), in collaboration with Uppsala University and the University of Oslo, held a Zoom meeting with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Studios Science Unit.
The meeting was attended by IGTL President, Mr. Job Brites dos Santos, along with his team; Mr. Benjamin Kear from Uppsala University; Mr. Jรธrn Harald Hurum from the University of Oslo; and the BBC team, which included Ms. Kirsty Wilson, Mr. Sam Wigfield, and other members of the BBC Studios Science Unit.
The primary objective of the meeting was to discuss the BBCโ€™s interest in documenting the remarkable discovery of an Ichthyosaur fossil in Timor-Leste for an international documentary, scheduled for production in May 2026. The discussion covered key aspects of the project, including the individuals and organizations involved, the process of fossil extraction, storage arrangements, and travel logistics to the excavation site.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue discussions to ensure thorough preparation ahead of the planned documentary production.
